Astrid Hocking
Astrid Hocking is the driving force behind Hearts & Hands, a not-for-profit organisation that breaks cycles of child abuse, protects vulnerable children and supports communities.
With over two decades of experience as a foster parent—caring for more than 90 children—Astrid’s passion for uplifting others is deep-rooted and lifelong. She partners with an orphanage in the Philippines to rescue and rehabilitate children from trafficking or abandonment, and her Umbrella Hearts campaign champions the belief that child protection is everyone’s responsibility.
Astrid, a former teacher who retired in 2016, draws on her extensive education, assessments, and training background to create sustainable community programs. Happily married for 49 years and a proud mother and grandmother, Astrid’s unwavering commitment to offering people choices and opportunities to live better and more rewarding lives.
